VEA Vice Chair Nell Minow to Present Osher Lecture at American University on October 20

Nell Minow will speak at 12:15, Temple Baptist Church, 850 Nebraska Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016. It is open to the public and free to attend. No reservations are necessary.

How Corporate Governance Can Save the World — and Why It Must

The last four decades have featured increasingly rapid cycles of market spikes and market collapses. The savings and loan disaster, the dot.com meltdown, the Enron/WorldCom era financial frauds, and the sub-prime meltdown have coincided with the rise of enormous institutional investors. Those investors have, until now, been passive bystanders or co-conspirators with those responsible for these financial failures, and with the 1000 percent rise in the gap between CEO pay and the median employee. Nell Minow will explain how all of this is connected, what simple steps are needed to correct it, and how these issues are likely to be presented in the 2016 campaign.
