Directors Find Board Cyber Expertise Lacking — Agenda

An Agenda Education webcast poll this week asked attendees whether their respective boards were equipped with the right amount of cybersecurity competence, and almost 40% said, “Not yet, but almost there.” Another 20% answered no. Only about 31% responded yes, and almost 10% of those polled were unsure.

Forthcoming SEC rules on cybersecurity will require new disclosures about boards’ cybersecurity expertise when they’re finalized, and it appears that directors aren’t positive how their boards will stack up. The rules are likely to be adopted in their current form and are slated for a final vote in April, according to the SEC’s annual agenda.
